In 2018, smartARM was born out of a conversation between the Founder and a friend with a congenital limb difference. The idea addressed the frustrating gap in the market where people were forced to choose between an affordable prosthetic or one that actually worked. The idea was to build an AI-powered arm that was accessible. What started as a concept quickly gained recognition, and smartARM was invited to participate in Microsoft's flagship technology competition, Imagine Cup. After competing against 50,000 other applicants, smartARM emerged victorious, representing Canada on the global stage.
From there, the journey only gained momentum. smartARM was invited to speak around the world and even received a visit from the Canadian Prime Minister. The response from the limb different community was overwhelming, and smartARM was incorporated as a startup, launching a 4-year research and development phase.
Today, we're proud to announce that our first product will be unveiled in the spring of 2023. We're excited to provide an affordable, accessible bionic arm that will change lives and make a real difference. The smartARM journey is just beginning, and we invite you to join us on this mission.
